Nepal defeated Papua New Guinea (PNG) by seven wickets in the ongoing ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier held at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, UAE.

PNG, winning the toss and decided to bat first. Batting first, PNG posted 140 runs with the help of Geraint Jones’s 55 runs and Mahuru Dai scored an unbeaten 36 runs for PNG.

Nepal, chasing the target of 141 runs to win, chased it in 18.2 overs. Subash Khakurel, the opener, scored 38 runs for Nepal while Binod Bhandari scored unbeaten 51 off 23 balls, and Skipper Parash Khadka scored 26 runs of 19 balls to take Nepal to a comfortable victory.

This was Nepal’s third win of the tournament, while PNG has won two matches in the qualifiers. Nepal have earlier lost to Scotland and beaten Kenya and Denmark.
