Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton and Team Principal Ross brawn have revealed that the team is disappointed after the Korean Grand Prix where the team failed to find a podium despite the car’s good pace.

“I did everything I could. There were only a few tricks I could try and they didn’t work,” Hamilton said.

Hamilton managed to finish the race in fifth spot while teammate Nico Rosberg was relegated to seventh place after his front-wing came loose.

Brawn addressed the front tyre issue that Hamilton had and said that a pit stop for the problem was never ideal.

“Lewis began to struggle around 13 laps into his second stint when he reported that his right-front tyre was no longer performing properly,” Brawn said.

“At that point, we had a difficult decision to make: an extra stop at lap 22 would have committed us to a much slower three-stop strategy, or we could leave Lewis in clean air to tough it out and try and reach the target lap to make our two-stop strategy work. We chose the latter option but it was a pretty painful few laps as Lewis battled to minimize the time loss,” he added.

With the fifth place result and Kimi Raikkonen’s podium, Hamilton has slipped to fourth place in the standings.
