How much do the coaches of all 32 World Cup teams earn per year?
In a shocking revelation, the highest paid manager at the World Cup – Russia coach Fabio Capello – earns almost twice as much as the next best paid manager – England’s Roy Hodgson.
Capello earns £6.7m per year (approximately US $11.4 million) while Hodgson earns close to £3.5m (approximately US $5.9 million) per year.
Italy’s Cesare Prandelli is the second Italian in the top three with a salary of £2.58m per year (approximately US $4.4 million).
None of these three teams they managed have qualified for the Round of 16.
In all, 19 coaches earn at least $1 million per year. Out of the top 10 coaches, only 5 of their teams have qualified for the knockout stages.
Miguel Herrera, arguably the most passionate coach at the World Cup, earns a paltry $209K per year according to the Daily Mail. In other words, Capello earns more than 50 times what Herrera earns in a year!
