4 players that can help Manchester United retain the EPL

Real Madrid CF v FC Barcelona - La Liga

Although United sealed their 20th record Premier League title in May, there is no doubt that they need to recruit some talented players to make sure that they are in a position to retain the title.

Here’s a list of some players who can be a good addition to the team:

Thiago Alcantara (FC Barcelona)

The midfielder had a release clause of €90 million in his contract, but it was reduced to €18 million because of an appearance-related clause. Yes, this was before he shone in the UEFA Under-21 European Championship. After scoring a hat-trick in the final against Italy, almost every European elite club has set its sights on the young Spaniard. And it is time for Barcelona to get worried.

For a young midfielder who essentially needs playing time, Manchester United is the best possible destination. And it is a case in which both parties need each other equally. Manchester United desperately needs a midfielder who can facilitate ball movement on the field, and Thiago Alcantara needs a team where he can spend more time on the field than on the bench.

Marouane Fellaini (Everton)

With the possible departure of Wayne Rooney on the cards, Fellaini is an excellent replacement. With David Moyes about to take charge as United’s manager, it will not be a surprise if Fellaini follows him. He can play as a striker, and he can play behind the striker.

Leighton Baines (Everton)

Everton v West Bromwich Albion - Premier League

The left-back is believed to be admired by Sir Alex Ferguson for a long time now, and it only makes sense that David Moyes will also want him at United. Patrice Evra’s best days are well behind him, and Alexander Buttner is still far from being named in the starting XI regularly. In such a scenario, a good left-back won’t be a surplus at Manchester United, but will only prove to be a sensible signing.

Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid)

Real Madrid CF v Malaga CF - La Liga

No matter how remote the chances of this move are, it is still possible. Ronaldo returned to old Trafford for Real Madrid’s Champions League tie against United, and it was an emotional night. United fans sang their hearts out for their former No. 7.

After the season finished, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez said that Ronaldo will sign a new contract for Madrid. And soon Ronaldo tweeted that “all the talks about Madrid renewal are false”. Hope restored.

Manchester United is yet to sign a major player, and let us hope that in the coming days, if not all, some of the players mentioned above arrive at Old Trafford to be a part of the club.
