Andre Villas-Boas could be handed a Premier League reprieve by Swansea City after they sacked manager Michael Laudrup on Tuesday following their weekend defeat to West Ham, report The Daily Express.

The Portuguese tactician was dismissed himself by Tottenham Hotspur in December and claimed his next could could be away from the Premier League, but could make a swift return after the Swansea post surprisingly became available.

The former Chelsea and Spurs boss had hoped to make his return to management with AC Milan, but saw Clarence Seedorf appointed instead and could look back to a league where he is still held in high regard, despite two short tenures in the capital.

A Europa League campaign – which he has emerged from victorious with Porto before – could sway him to take the hotseat at the Liberty Stadium, but he has some early competition from some illustrious names from the Premier League.

Tow playing legends have been linked with the post, with Marcel Desailly and Dennis Bergkamp linked despite very little managerial experience between them.

Bergkamp is currently on the coaching staff with Ajax, but could be tempted to take his first role as head coach with Swansea, a side already set up to play in a similar passing style to the Dutch giants.

Desailly is an outsider having had no managerial and little coaching experience, while Marcelo Bielsa is also thought to be being considered, with the Chilean currently unemployed since leaving Athletic Bilbao at the end of last season.

The front runner however is thought to be Graeme Jones, currently assistant to Roberto Martinez at Everton, having formerly been his assistant at Swansea prior to leaving for Wigan.

Jones has never been head coach, but is thought to be open to making such a move, having strong ties to the club following his stint there and would follow the Swansea footballing philosophy.

Swansea have recorded a passing accuracy of 86% so far this season, the equal best in the Premier League alongside Arsenal and Manchester City.
