According to Mirror, Brendan Rodgers shall be discussing Andy Carroll’s future at the end of the season, with the Liverpool boss considering the option of him staying at Anfield or a possible move to Carroll’s former club Newcastle.

It has been a difficult season for Carroll because he has not been playing every week due to some injuries coming his way. Rodgers has been monitoring the situation very closely and might consider a swap deal from Newcastle involving the 26-year-old French footballer Hatem Ben Arfa. The Frenchman can play as an attacking midfielder or a winger.

Rodgers has always wanted to reshape the Liverpool’s forward line-up and has been somewhat successful in creating some options that he has now that include players like Luis Suarez, Raheem Sterling and Daniel Sturridge.

Rodgers compares the situation at the club right now to the one faced by Liverpool legend Bill Shankly in the 1960’s.

Rodgers was quoted as saying by the mirror:

“My job is to build the club again, like Bill Shankly did very successfully to set up the many successful eras that everyone remembers Liverpool for.

“First and foremost there is no comparison in relation to those greats of the past; those two managers, Shankly and Bob Paisley, will always be remembered here.

“But I am trying to replicate what Bill Shankly did – and it’s a huge challenge, because the club is an institution. It is a challenge I’ve enjoyed every minute of, and I’ve seen real progress this season which I would expect us to continue that over the next couple of years.”

However, Rodgers described the past history of the massive club as an inspiration to his future team.

“The past is everything here, and things like the sign are symbols of that great past.”

Liverpool are currently placed 7th in the Premier league after Everton, with 7 games to go.
