Andy Carroll’s Move to West Ham Remains Unlikely

Reports have been flying around the past few days over Liverpool accepting a loan bid for Andy Carroll. I can confirm that it is true. However, the Englishman still remains adamant about staying with the Reds this season.

The Deal

Reportedly, it is a 1 year loan deal that West Ham and Liverpool FC have agreed on. The reason why I personally don’t mind this loan deal is because West Ham are paying full wages, and also because their fee to make this deal permanent is 17 million pounds. Additionally, the London outfit will have to fork out 2 million pounds itself to loan the lanky Englishman.

Plus, if they remain a Premier League club next season, they have no choice but to take Carroll on a full 19 million pound deal (2 million + 17 milliion on top). Essentially the 2 million pounds acts as a transfer fee for Andy Carroll’s year long service. This has been agreed on.

However….

There are two things that are stopping Andy Carroll from joining West Ham. First of all, Andy Carroll still wants to convince Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers that he has a place in Liverpool. It’s something that Rodgers has got to appreciate and consider. He has a player willing to work his socks off to prove his doubters (including Rodgers himself) wrong.

The second thing that Andy Carroll wants is at least a move to a club with European football. Newcastle United appeared a likely destination, but with his wages at 80,000 pounds a week, the Tyneside club might just resist making a move for the ex-Geordie (especially with Mike Ashley still around). Newcastle do have the Europa League to play for next season, so it still remains possible that it will happen.
