Mesut Ozil has been sued by his own father Mustafa Ozil after the Arsenal midfielder sacked him as the managing director of his marketing company Ozil Marketing GmbH. The news comes as an unnecessary distraction for the fans who already have the situation of a poor start to bear in their minds.

German newspaper Bild have reported that Ozil senior had filed a complaint for loss of earnings which came up to £493,000. The matter was further muddied as Ozil’s company made a counter claim and demanded the repayment of a loan which was worth one million euros and asked him to return the company car that was provided.

The situation seems to be settled now as the pair have reached an agreement. His father has been replaced by Ozil’s brother Mutlu.

Ozil’s recovery going well

The 26-year old was ruled out until next year due to a ruptured knee ligament suffered in early October. Before that, the former Real Madrid man had been in disappointing form as his lethargic displays after a long World Cup cost Arsenal early on in the season, resulting in a lot of draws.

Arsene Wenger has had to deal with a lot of injury problems of late but revealed earlier this month that the Germany international is progressing well along with the other injured players. He said, “Debuchy, Ospina and Ozil are progressing very well, but of course they are not available before or straight after the international break.”

Prior to his injury, Ozil had appeared nine times for Arsenal in all competitions and had one goal to his name. His return will be eagerly anticipated as Arsenal have been far from their best and will need their costliest signing to appear and start delivering on the pitch.
