Arsenal - Player Ratings : WBA 1-1 Arsenal

West Bromwich Albion v Arsenal - Premier League

Szczesny – (8/10)

A brilliant save in the first half to save the deflected ball when caught on the wrong foot was the highlight of his game. He cannot be blamed for the goal. Hardly could have done anything about it when the player was left unmarked and given a free header.

Jenkinson– (5/10)

He was nowhere close to the attackers when you need him to be marking them. His passes were amiss and struggled to hold the ball. A very disappointing performance. Bacary Sagna was missed sorely.

Mertesaker– (6/10)

Consistent as ever. He cleared the ball without any hassle when required, held on to the ball and fed it to the midfield without any trouble. He completed 47 of the 50 passes he attempted. Wasn’t involved much though.

Koscielny– (7/10)

He won all the aerial duels and passed with decisive accuracy. A back heeled save during the second half just after the scores were level proved vital for the team when Sessegnon tried to feed unmarked Anelka with the ball.

Gibbs–(7/10)

He was kept busy most of the time on the left flank where the attack never seemed to cease. He made a few important tackles. He could not find his team mates with his crosses when pressing in the front. Overall, defensively he was good, given the number attacks he had to counter.

Arteta– (6/10)

He was quiet throughout the game. Passed well and did almost everything right except the tackles. He was able to win only 2 of the 6 tackles he attempted in the game. Kind of bad for a holding midfielder.

Flamini– (6/10)

It has become a customary habit for him to pick up one yellow card every game. Today was no exception. He lacked his usual energy due to the fatigue caused by the mid-week champions league fixture. Made a couple of useful save and passed with great accuracy. He completed 59 of his 61 attempted passes.

Ramsey–(6/10)

It was Rambo’s first unusual under-par performance . He was taken off in the second half mainly due to a knee injury which was causing him trouble. Playing him out of position did him no good either.

Wilshere– (7/10)

A horrible first half. At times it looked as if he had forgotten how to play in the first 45 minutes. Thanks to his spirited comeback in the second half which helped him score the equalizer for Arsenal. He made a glorious pass to Giroud which the striker couldn’t capitalize.

Ozil–(6/10)

Largely silent and hardly threatening throughout the game. Little bursts of magical ball control and creativity now and then summarizes his performance.

Giroud–(6/10)

He looked like a totally out of form striker. He missed opportunities which he would have peacefully put to bed on any other day. Not a good day as a forward for him. He still managed to win decisive duals and helped the team hold on to the ball.

Rosicky–(6/10)

His introduction seemed to spur some attacking bursts in the final third. His ball control was not what you would call exceptional.

Bendtner–(N/A)

Came on for Giroud in the end.
