Birmingham City accept bids for Nathan Redmond

Birmingham City have announced that they have accepted bids in the region of £3m for teenager Nathan Redmond. Reports suggest that Premier League clubs Swansea and Norwich city have had their offers accepted by the Blues, with Fulham also interested in the England U-21 international.

“What we have had are three bids, two that have been accepted and one that hasn’t been accepted,” Birmingham manager Lee Clark said.

“Now it’s up to Nathan if he wants to speak to those two clubs and see if it’s right for him.

“It’s another one where you don’t want to lose the player, but you understand the reasons why he has to go. Unfortunately that’s where we are at the moment and we have just got to get on with it. Nathan was terrific for me second half of the season. I think he kicked on again from where he had been in his first full season and then he carried it all on in the under-21s. That’s why the interest has intensified in him.”

The manager insisted that due to the financial troubles, he had no other option but to reluctantly accept the offers for both Redmond and Curtis Davies, who recently completed his move to Hull City.

“I have spoken to Nathan at length. In an ideal world he would be with me this season – so would Curtis (Davies).

“But we know that isn’t the scenario. We have to get the best deal to keep Birmingham City going.

“Listen, the bottom line is that the most important people in all of this are the fans. We have got to make sure the club is still there for them. And whatever you have got to do to make that happen, you have got to do it.”

Birmingham have already signed Tom Adyemi on a free transfer after his contract expired at Norwich city and are negotiating a loan move for Swansea’s Kyle Bartley as a part of the deal which will take Redmond to the Liberty Stadium.
