Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has admitted that he wishes he could have played with Luis Suarez at Barcelona, as per the reports on Goal. Fabregas moved to Stamford Bridge from the Camp Nou last summer after spending three seasons with his boyhood club.

While the 28-year-old made a return to the Premier League by joining the Blues in the summer of 2014, the Spanish champions prised away the Uruguay striker from Liverpool’s clutches and the pair did not feature alongside each other. The former Arsenal midfielder’s transfer to the English champions helped Barcelona raise the funds required to sign Suarez.

In his stint in La Liga, Fabregas bagged five major honours including the La Liga title and UEFA Super Cup. Unfortunately, the Spain international struggled to establish himself in the starting lineup and he recently revealed that he decided to quit Barca because ‘he was not loved by the fans’.

Suarez has since formed a superb partnership with several of his teammates at Camp Nou, including Neymar and Lionel Messi. Fabregas has now revealed that he wanted to link up with the former Liverpool man and the pair could have formed a formidable partnership and have a ‘phenomenal understanding' on the pitch.

“Barcelona have fantastic players,” the former Arsenal skipper said in an interview.

“The three in attack decide matches, even though the best of them all is missing at the moment – and that's Leo Messi.”

“But Neymar has taken a step forward and Luis Suarez is. I wish I had played with him at Barcelona because he is a striker with whom I would have had a phenomenal understanding.”

“The rest, Andres Iniesta, Sergio Busquets and also the defence, which is practically the same, they have a very high level.”

I have no regrets leaving Barcelona: Fabregas

The Spaniard had always said he had hoped to finish his career in Spain, but he has now claimed that he has no regrets about leaving his boyhood club and will still root for them in the upcoming El Clasico.

“Of course I still follow them.” Fabregas admitted. “The Clasico on November 21 is the greatest match that exists in today's football. In a year and a half, I have missed a maximum of seven games."

“A lot happens in football and you have to accept the things that happen in the moment they happen,” he said. “Once the decision has been made, there is no point looking back.”

“I experienced lots of Clasicos, 10 or 12, and I had the chance to score goals at the Bernabeu and to win titles, like on the day of my debut.”

“We won 80 per cent of the Clasicos we played in that time. It's something I have experienced, something that excited me. Now I enjoy it like I did when I was a kid, watching it on TV.”
