Chelsea’s manager Jose Mourinho confident the club can perform in the absence of Diego Costa

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has shrugged off worries that his club won’t be able to cope up in the absence of Diego Costa. The Spaniard, who has been the club’s top goal-scorer, was booked for the 5th time this season against Sunderland, and he is now suspended for their next game against Tottenham on Wednesday night.

With Costa ruled out, Mourinho will look to the duo of Loic Remy and Didier Drogba to deliver the goods at home in the game against Tottenham Hotspur.

Speaking after the match, and when asked if Chelsea will miss their leading goalscorer, Mourinho said, "No. We'll play (Loic) Remy or (Didier) Drogba. We don't cry about injured players or about suspended players.

If he's suspended, he's suspended. He can rest, he can be fresh against Newcastle and against Tottenham, Drogba and Remy will have their opportunity to start the game. No problem, let's go.''

Costa was booked for catching Wes Brown in the face with a stray elbow during an aerial challenge, and he was lucky that it wasn’t taken any more seriously.

But Mourinho had a different view of it, and said: "Why do you speak all the time about Diego? I don't agree, I don't agree. I was just told that he was unlucky to get the yellow card.''

Clearly, the Chelsea manager was not happy with the decision to book Costa, but has shown that he is ready to look to the bench to sustain Chelsea’s goalscoring form.
