Maurizio Sarri and the Blues will be gearing up for what seems to be a busy winter transfer window in January. The Chelsea boss has already expressed his desire to sign a couple of players to strengthen certain positions, and might even do so considering the club's backpedalling in the Premier League.

Let's have a look at what the rumour mill has churned about Chelsea today.

#1 Chelsea's loan policy under the spotlight

According to Standard Sport, FIFA are thinking of limiting the number of players the clubs can let out on loan. The governing body plans to reduce the loan moves in between six to eight players since season 2020-21.

Chelsea and Manchester City have drawn heavy criticism for their loan policies. The Blues, especially, have 38 players out on loan at the moment.

The final decision will be out by February and Chelsea, like many other clubs, are hoping that it doesn't affect their loan policy concerning domestic loans and U-23 loans.

#2 Chelsea reject Barcelona's bid for Andreas Christensen

According to The Mirror, Chelsea have turned down Barcelona's bid for Andreas Christensen. The defender is said to be unhappy with the minimal role he has played under Maurizio Sarri this season, falling down the pecking order behind Antonio Rudiger and David Luiz.

Barcelona have been worried about Samuel Umtiti's recovery and are interested in bringing able reinforcements to replace him. They have also been heavily linked with Ajax wonderkid Matthijs De Ligt.

#3 Cesc Fabregas provides update on Chelsea future

Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has confirmed that he intends to stay at the Stamford Bridge for the rest of the season, following repeated links with a move to AC Milan.

The Italians were said to be planning a loan move for the Spanish playmaker, who is currently in the final year of his contract at the club.

When queried about his future at the club, Fabregas confirmed his intentions but refused to rule out a move in the future. He said:

"No, I haven't spoken to anyone. Obviously, in January I can sign with whoever I want (a pre-contract agreement for the summer) and probably this will attract many clubs."

"But so far, from what I can say right now, yes I will stay here until the end of the season. I play at Stamford Bridge, I'm happy, but of course every player wants to play more."
