Often accused of being a self-obsessed narcissist, Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo is certainly more than that.
When the player recently found out about 10-month old Erik Ortiz Cruz who is suffering from cortical dysplasia, he didn’t hesitate to help out the young boy and offered to cover all his medical bills.
Cortical dysplasia is a congenital abnormality where the patient gets almost upto 30 seizures a day.
According to AS, the Cruz family have been desperately trying to raise money for Erik’s treatment, but lack of funds were a big hurdle in his recovery. Each operation is said to cost £6,000 while the operation on his brain alone would cost the Cruz family £60,000.
The case was brought to Ronaldo‘s attention who was more than happy to have helped the family raise more money by selling his boots and t-shirts in an auction apart from pledging to bear the full cost of little Erik’s treatment.
There is also a Twitter account dedicated to Erik that goes by TodoSomosErik.
It is not the first time Ronaldo has helped a sick child as in 2012, he along with his agent Jorge Mendes, took care of all the expenses for the treatment of Nuhazet, a child suffering from cancer.
