Daily Transfer Updates - 24th August

The Victor Moses(L) to Chelsea saga finally seems to have come to an end.

Wigan agree Chelsea bid for Moses

Wigan have finally agreed a bid for Victor Moses reportedly, with an offer of 10 million Pounds from Chelsea set to seal the deal. Moses has been targeted by Chelsea all summer with earlier bids deemed too less by the Latics.

The Nigerian was a key side for the Wearsiders last season as they managed to escape relegation yet again. The deal will thus be a huge blow for the club and the odds on them to stay in the Premier League after this season will only increase.

Goal.com also reports that Chelsea’s latest bid for Marseille’s Cesar Azpilicueta has been rejected though reports earlier suggested a deal had been agreed.

Marseille President Vincent Labrune has rejected the rumors saying Chelsea’s 4 million Euro offer was too low.

Zeki Fryers joins Standard Liege

Former United youngster Ezekiel Fryers has learnt the hard way that impatience gets oneself nowhere as he prepares for a move to Belgian side Standard Liege.

The English U-19 international refused to sign a new contract with United as he was below Patrice Evra in the pecking order and Tottenham lurked. He even spent the new off-season at the London club.

The matter of compensation would have been decided by a tribunal were he to sign with Spurs, but with United firmly demanding 6 million pounds in compensation, Tottenham backed out.

Standard Liege have thus swooped in for the player, who they can sign for minimal compensation, on a two year contract.

Fulham report Brendan Rogers over Clint Dempsey

Fulham have complained to the Premier League for allegedly tapping up Clint Dempsey on a move to Merseyside.

The Londoners are said to have complained about Rodgers’ public admission of Liverpool‘s interest in Dempsey. Although admitting they had made inquiries, the Merseyside has not followed up their interest with a formal bid for the 6 million pound rated player, according to Fulham.

Adding to the mess is Dempsey’s refusal to play for Fulham in order to force through a move to Liverpool, which will only serve to create difficulties in negotiations, should Liverpool make a formal bid.

QPR make shock move for Julio Cesar

QPR have reportedly made a move for Inter goalkeeper Julio Cesar as they continue to strengthen the squad in the off-season.

QPR have made a horrible start to the season with a 5-0 defeat to Fulham on the opening day. They have thus made moves to reinforce defensively, with a deal for Tottenham defender Michael Dawson in the pipeline and former Chelsea right-back Bosingwa having already moved to the club.

The Telegraph thus reports that QPR’s technical director Mike Rigg is in talks with Cesar’s agents to try and push for a deal to be completed. Brazil international Cesar has been a long-term target of Tottenham to replace the aging Friedel but a concrete bid has not materialized so far.
