David de Gea wants Cristiano Ronaldo back at Manchester United

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has expressed his desire to play with Cristiano Ronaldo and wished that Real Madrid forward returned to his former club.

The 29-year left England to join Real Madrid for a then-world record transfer fee of £80 million in 2009.

"Of course I would like Cristiano Ronaldo to come to Manchester United," De Gea said "But I think it's difficult."

The potential deal for the Portuguese forward is likely to cost the club upwards of £160 million with them already having spent close to that amount on 6 players in the summer.

Ronaldo is said to have somewhat of a fallout with Real Madrid President Florentino Perez regarding difference in opinion over the club’s transfer policy. The player has refused to rule out a future move to his former club and new boss Louis van Gaal has refused to rule a move out for the player.

Old Trafford are already blessed with a variety of attacking talents namely summer acquisitions Radamel Falcao and Angel Di Maria and the goalkeeper is impressed by how quickly they have taken to English football.

“They have adapted quickly, both scoring and supplying assists. They will make us better as everybody knows how well they did in Spain.

“I hope they score a lot of goals for Manchester United.”

The 23-year-old goalkeeper was speaking on the back of a brilliant performance against Everton which saw him bail his side out, saving a penalty in the process.

“It gives you a lot of confidence. It was an important victory for the team and I will always remember it. It was one of the best [performances] I've had and most importantly because it ended in victory,” he said.

“There are days when you play a great game but end up not winning. So in that sense, it was a perfect match.”

The victory meant the Manchester Club are in the top 4 for the first time in 14 months.
