Another feather is added in the hat of Kolkata giants East Bengal. This time it’s by their young guns. East Bengal’s U-15 Teams emerged as the champuions of U-15 category of Kolkata GOALZ. While East Bengal U-18 finished as runners up in U-18 category, defeated by George Telegragh.

‘Kolkata GOALZ’, which was inspired by ‘Kickz’, an initiative in England, were trying to find some young and emerging talents from the local clubs and they have also tried their best to engage young guns with football who may find difficulties to reach there. Interestingly being cricket as the “Religion of India”, it is very hard to inspire young, supreme talents to the beautiful game, football.

Kolkata GOALZ was initiated by the British Council, Kolkta Police, Kolkata Municipal Corporation, AIFF in association with six Kolkata clubs- East Bengal, Mohon Bagan, George Telegraph, Mohammedan Sporting, Prayag United and Police Atheletic Club.

All the six clubs were participated in this tournament. The final were held yesterday at the East Bengal ground. In the U-15 final it was goalless after the regulation time and the result was decide in the penalty shoot out where East Bengal had the last laugh, beaten Mohammedan SC by 3-2. On the other hand George Telegraph beat East Bengal by 2-0.

In the presentation party Kolkata Mayor Mr. Sovan Chatterjee, Deputy High Commissioner of United Kingdom at Kolkta and others were present. They presented all the trophies and medals to the players and the teams. They were pleased by the initiative and responsibilities taken by “Kolkata GOALZ” to improve Indian Football.
