European Football Roundup - Part 1: Barca breeze past Levante, Inter put 4 past Citadella

European football around the continent kicked into gear on all the major leagues, and here’s a brief look at what happened.

Barcelona started their La Liga campaign in the best possible way, running out 7-0 winners over a hapless Levante. The goals started pouring in as early as the 3rd minute, with Alexis Sanchez opening Barca’s account. What followed was a flurry of goals, and by the time the referee blew the half time whistle, Camp Nou was buzzing with Barcelona taking a virtually unassailable 6-0 lead. They added one more in the second half, to finish the game at 7-0. Along with Sanchez, Dani Alves and Xavi got a goal each while Lionel Messi and Pedro Rodriguez got a brace each.

Over in Italy, Inter Milan started their Coppa Italia campaign with a 4-0 win over Citadella to progress to the 4th Round. Jonathan and Ranocchia scored a goal each while Rodrigo Palacio scored a brace, one of them being a penalty after Pecorini was sent off with a straight red card.

In France, Monaco continued their successful start to their Ligue 1 campaign, with a 4-1 win over Montpellier. Falcao opened the scoring, with Emmanuel Riviere completing a hattrick.
