Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho was unfazed at the prospect of facing Manchester City in the next round of the FA Cup, insisting to the BBC that the fifth-round draw gave his side an opportunity to test themselves against “the best team” and would help his team’s development.

“That’s good,” he said when questioned on the draw.

“Our priority for the season is to improve. And the best way to improve is difficult things. It is a good thing for us; it’s a good draw.”

“We want to play against the best team twice in 15 days,” insisted the Chelsea boss.

“We want to play in their stadium, the stadium where they win every game, the stadium where they smash every team, the stadium where they score four or five goals every game even against the best teams like Arsenal, Tottenham and [Manchester] United.”

Chelsea beat Stoke 1-0 on Sunday, but could easily have won by more, leading Mourinho to praise his side’s performance.

“We are playing very well in my opinion,” he said.

“We played a very good game and 1-0 does not reflect the quality of our game and the dominance of our game.”

“If we lose, we lose against the best and if we don’t lose it is fantastic.”

Manchester City have scored 42 home goals in the Premier League this season – just one goal fewer than Chelsea have managed across all of their league fixtures.
