Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has revealed that he is not allowed to discuss details of the disagreement he had with striker Emmanuel Adebayor due to contract restrictions imposed by the North Londoners, reports Marca.

The Portuguese spent a little over a year in charge at White Hart Lane before he was acrimoniously sacked with Spurs lying seventh in the Premier League after heavy defeats to Manchester City and Liverpool.

Tottenham often struggled for goals under Andre Villas-Boas due to the poor performances of summer signing Roberto Soldado, but the 36-year-old refused to utilise the talent of Togolese forward Adebayor.

Restricted to a single appearance during his reign this season Adebayor had been frozen out of the first team picture, but the real reason behind his repeated omission has never been explained.

However, during Tim Sherwood’s tenure he has been restored to the side and put in a string of impressive performances, leading to questions over his absence, with AVB hinting that there may have been something sinister afoot.

When questioned whether his poor relationship with the forward had led to his dismissal he replied, ”I’m sorry but for contractual reasons I can not talk about it.”

Despite two turbulent spells with Premier League clubs, with both ending in an abrupt and undignified end for the Portuguese he is adamant that he wants to return to England in the future after he pursues his desire to work in another European league.

“It is not the right time now because the season is almost finishing, but in June I’ll start once again, fresh, and in another country.

“The Premier League, hopefully I can return in the future because it is the most spectacular league in the world where you can see great matches and great goals every week. I won’t be working there next year, but hopefully it can happen in the future,” he insisted.

Emmanuel Adebayor has scored eight goals in 11 league appearances sine AVB’s departure and is now the club’s top scorer.
