Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo set two personal marks in La Liga on Saturday night when Los Blancos beat Celta Vigo 3-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu. The win was Madrid’s 18th consecutive victory in all competitions which equals the record.
The Portuguese forward scored all three goals to net his 23rd hat-trick in La Liga – a new record. He also scored his 200th goal in the league in only his sixth season at the club. HIs 200th goal came in his 178th Liga game.
Ronaldo had earlier equalled the record set by Real Madrid legend Alfredo Di Stefano and Athletic Bilbao’s Telmo Zarra with his 22nd hat-trick but went past it when he scored in the 81st minute.
Real Madrid’s 18th consecutive victory also matches the record set by Barcelona in the 2005/06 season under Frank Rijkaard. They can break the record if they win their next game against Ludogorets in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Madrid went 1-0 up through a penalty when Cristiano Ronaldo was brought down in the box. But replays showed that it was a soft decision with very minimal contact before Ronaldo fell to the ground.
He stepped up himself and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way to open the scoring.

Ronaldo then doubled the lead in the second half with a volley after the defence failed to clear a ball that had popped up inside the box. Ronaldo was unmarked and took a shot that went int the bottom corner.

Ronaldo completed his hat-trick when Marcelo found him with a cross, unmarked yet again and all he had to do was slot it past the diving goalkeeper.
