"I want to prove Mourinho wrong by scoring more than the Chelsea forwards," says Lukaku

Manchester City v Everton - Premier League

Romelu Lukaku

Romelu Lukaku was sent to Everton on loan on the transfer deadline day by Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho. Since joining the merseyside club, Lukaku has scored 4 goals already in 3 matches.

On asked about his surprising move, he said: “I can’t really do anything about that. The trainer decides and you have to respect that as a player. So i chose to leave and now it’s up to me to prove the trainer was wrong. This has been going on for two years and it makes you ask yourself some questions. But hey, c’est la vie (it’s life). All i can do is play well and score a lot. And then people will notice i’m a good player.”

Jose Mourinho had stated that he did not regret letting Lukaku leave. He believed, it was different to play for Everton and score than to play for a bigger club like Chelsea.

Lukaku replied: ‘What am i supposed to say about that? Everyone has his own opinion. I can only prove them/it wrong. By scoring more than the forwards Chelsea has. I hope i can end up above Chelsea with Everton and score more. At the end of the season we’ll see who made the right choice.’

The Chelsea forwards this season have not scored a single goal so far, whereas Lukaku has 4 goals beside his name.
