The world football governing body released the latest FIFA Women’s World Rankings yesterday in which Indian Women gained a spot to now be 50th in the world amongst 124 ranked nations, with India now having 1431 points.

Amongst the 36 ranked Asian nations, Indian Women remain 11th behind Uzbekistan but ahead of Jordan and Iran, while in the overall rankings, India is behind Cameroon and Ghana, but ahead of South Africa, Equatorial Guinea, Jordan and Northern Ireland.

India’s failed campaign in the 2014 AFC Women’s Championship qualifiers last month in Palestine didn’t harm our women in the world rankings as one would have expected.

In the women’s rankings, Olympic champions United States of America remain top ahead of Germany, 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup winners, Japan, Brazil with Sweden now fifth, switching positions with France.
