Mumbai City FC bagged their maiden win of the season as they beat Delhi Dynamos 2-0 at home to move off the bottom of the table. The win eased the pressure on the Mumbai based outfit as Nicolas Anelka’s men have established a base to build their season on.

Mumbai City FC’s assistant Coach Oscar Bruzon was pleased with the fight and attitude shown by his team as they brought down a high flying Delhi Dynamos side back to earth.

“Our players had the right attitude today. We asked them to fight and the players fought really hard on the pitch today. We may have picked up seven yellow cards, but I would take eight yellow cards in the next game if we are going to get the three points,” said a buoyed Bruzon in the post-match press conference.

Sunil Chhetri justified his heavy bidding fee with a brace as the DY Patil crowd rejoiced the return among the goals of their hero. Bruzon too had words of praise for Chhetri who, according to Bruzon, had a fantastic game.

“I am pleased for Sunil and happy that his goals helped us to get our first win. I think he had a very good game and combined well with the rest of the attacking players,” added Bruzon.

The Spaniard urged his team to have the same attitude on the pitch for the remainder of the games to come and make every visiting team feel the heat, playing at the DY Patil Stadium.

“We had a great attitude today and I want it to be the same for the upcoming games. We want every team to have a tough time playing at the DY Patil stadium against us and they must feel worried about coming to the D.Y Patil Stadium.”

Mumbai City must continue this momentum: Bruzon

Bruzon though refused to get too carried away with the result and expressed his desire to build on the win and keep the momentum going in the matches to come.

“We cannot be too happy as we have just one win in four. We have to take the momentum from this game into our next game and keep going,” he said.

“I always had faith in my team despite the poor results and now I believe we are going to build a very different Mumbai City FC side,” the Spaniard concluded.

Mumbai City FC now face FC Goa in another home game on Sunday. FC Goa play Kerala Blasters later today and Mumbai City FC will have a day more to recover than their opponents on Sunday. It will be interesting to see if Mumbai City FC can take off after a morale boosting win against the Delhi Dynamos and have a genuine shot at finishing in the top four places.
