Jens Lehmann: Gunners move would be ideal for Julian Draxler

Former Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann has suggested that a move to north London would be good for Julian Draxler.

Draxler, 20, has been linked with a move to the Emirates for quite a long time now and the move could be set to go ahead either at some point this week or during the summer.

Lehmann, a fellow German, spoke to Sky Sports and appeared to drop a strong hint to the young star.

“I think Julian Draxler is perceived to be one of the greatest, talented young players in Germany,” said Lehmann.

“So it would be a good move for him to go to Arsenal.

“Probably not now in the winter break because he can still play Real Madrid in the Champions League with Schalke. He can see [whether] Schalke will be qualified for next year’s Champions League.

“With Arsenal, he has a bigger likeness of playing in the Champions League next year, which is quite certain. Of course, it may give him a bigger chance to play at the World Cup with Brazil.”

Lehmann is now just another figure connected with Arsenal to speak out about Draxler moving to the Gunners so a move could well be on the cards at some point in the future. It seems that Arsene Wenger is the frontrunner for the young German’s signature.

Julian Draxler scored 66.6% of Schalke’s goals in the Champions League group stages earlier this season.
