United States international Juan Agudelo has signed a pre-contract agreement with Stoke City.
Agudelo currently plays for MLS side New England Revolution and will join the Premier League side on January 1, 2014, once his deal expires with his present club.
Stoke City manager Mark Hughes told the club website:
“I’ve known of him for a couple of years now, he burst on to the scene for the United States at the 17 and everybody has paid attention to him since.”

He added: “I have kept my eye on him for the last 18 months, and thankfully we were in a position where we were able to pull this deal off.”
The US international made his debut in the MLS for New York Red Bulls in the year 2010. He then moved to Chivas USA, after which he moved to New England Revolution.
He is the club’s third recruit after Erik Pieters and Marc Muniesa joined the club from PSV and Barcelona respectively.
