5 players who can replace Karim Benzema at Real Madrid

Deportivo La Coruna v Real Madrid - La Liga
Real Madrid fans are starting to lose patience with Karim Benzema

One of the premier strikers in world football, Karim Benzema has not been in the best of form for Real Madrid. The Frenchman has struggled to score goals and his catalogue of missed chances has irked the famously demanding Real Madrid fans.

With the Frenchman now 29, and no Alvaro Morata in the team, fans and the board alike are desperate to sign a top quality striker. Los Blancos have never been shy to sign the best players in the world and we take a look at 5 quality players who can replace Karim Benzema at Real Madrid:

#5 Sergio Aguero

Sergio Aguero
Sergio Aguero would be an excellent addition to the Real Madrid side

Since his switch from Atletico Madrid in July 2011 for £38 million, ‘Kun’ Aguero has more than justified his fee. One of the best finishers in the Premier League and world football at the moment, Aguero who is 29, still has a couple of years left at the very top level.

Whistleblowing website Football Leaks, which specialises in publishing secret documents from the football world, has revealed that when Argentine forward Sergio Aguero was transferred to Manchester City in 2011, Atletico Madrid did not include any clause preventing the striker's sale to Real Madrid.

Another factor which might influence Real Madrid to go for Aguero is the fact that Pep Guardiola clearly prefers the talented Gabriel Jesus over the Argentine ace and Madrid will know that a big money bid could tempt the Premier League side to cash in on the former Atletico Madrid striker.

#4 Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang

Aubameyang
It has always been Aubameyang's dream to play at Real Madrid

One of the most in-form strikers in the world at the moment, Pierre-Emerick Aubmaeyang is another player who has long been linked with a move to Real Madrid. With the player himself speaking of his interest in playing for Los Blancos, this move could definitely happen in the future.

In an earlier interview with German TV station ZDF, the Gabon international had said:

“Only Real Madrid would be able to get me out of Borussia Dortmund,

“My childhood dream was to play for Real Madrid. Before he (his grandfather) died two years ago I promised him that one day I would play for Real Madrid,”

Winner of the Bundesliga Golden Boot ahead of Lewandowski last season, the 28-year-old has proven that he is one of the best goalscorers in world football at the moment. Blessed with electric pace and quick skill, Aubameyang can definitely add freshness and quality up top for Zidane's well-drilled side.

#3 Harry Kane

Harry Kane
Harry Kane is arguably the best striker in the Premier League at the moment

Golden Boot winner Harry Kane is definitely among the best strikers in world football at the moment. Having scored more than 20 goals in each of his 3 previous seasons, Kane has proved that he can consistently bang in goals against all opposition.

Kane along with Alli was at the forefront of Tottenham's Premier League title challenge in the last two seasons and his impact in the League can be seen by the fact that Chelsea manager Conte, himself praised Kane as being the most complete striker in the League:

“For me, Kane, now is one of the best strikers in the world. If I had to buy one striker I would go to Kane. He is a complete striker.”

Capable of scoring tap-ins and absolute world class goals, Kane who is still only 24 is definitely capable of leading Real Madrid's forward line for plenty of years.

#2 Robert Lewandowski

ICC Singapore - Bayern v FC Internazionale
Lewandowski could be on his way out of Bayern Munich next season

One of the best strikers in the world, Robert Lewandowski has consistently shown what a true world class goalscorer he is with his performances for Bayern Munich in the past few seasons. Bayern Munich is a team full of superstars, but Lewandowski is arguably their biggest trump card.

Capable of scoring goals from any angle, Lewandoski is quite simply a complete striker as he is comfortable with both his right and left foot and is also extremely competitive and effective in the air. However, the relationship between the Polish sharpshooter and the Bundesliga champions seems to have soured after Lewandowski criticised Bayern's transfer dealings.

Bayern's CEO Karl Heinz-Rummenige was not at all pleased with the accusations. Speaking to Bild he said:

"Obviously Robert was irritated by PSG's transfers. He is employed with us as a football player and earns a lot of money. I regret what he said.

"Whoever publicly criticises the club or his team-mates will get in trouble with me personally. He already made false claims last season following the Freiburg match, where he claimed he had not been supported enough.

He also was not pleased with Lewandowski pining for Real Madrid:

"If he is moaning about our Asian tour, he should remember that the supposed club of his dreams, Real Madrid, spent 24 days over the summer in the heat - twice as long as we did,"

With Lewandowski himself pushing for a move, we might just see the blockbuster transfer happen sooner rather than later.

#1 Paulo Dybala

Juventus v AC Chievo Verona - Serie A
Paulo Dybala is tipped to be a future Ballon d'Or winner

Although not a classical number 9, Paulo Dybala is quite clearly one of the best forwards in world football at the moment. Still only 23, the Argentine ace has long been linked with a move to either Real Madrid or Barcelona, with both clubs extremely interested in securing his services.

Should Dybala come in, Ronaldo could well be moved to the centre and form a potent and devastating partnership with the young Argentine. While Benzema's link up play and partnership have been his best assets at Real Madrid, Dybala will undoubtedly be an upgrade on the Frenchman.

Capable of winning matches almost singlehandedly, the 23-year-old Argentine is touted to be a future Ballon d'Or winner and Florentino Perez will also be desperate to get the better of Barcelona and complete this marquee signing as soon as possible.

A front three of Dybala, Ronaldo and Bale/Asensio will definitely strike terror into the heart of opposition defences.
