Glen Johnson is back ahead of schedule for Liverpool and could be involved as the Reds host Swansea City on Sunday, the Mirror report.

There was concern for both Liverpool and England last month as Johnson was ruled out ‘indefinitely’ by manager Brendan Rodgers, with fears that his season could be over due to a series of groin and ankle injuries. Furthermore, Liverpool have been linked with another English right-back in the past few months.

But having come through a week of training completely unscathed, Johnson is back available for selection to bolster Liverpool’s back line.

Reds fans will be thrilled to have Johnson back in the side, allowing academy product Jon Flanagan to revert back to the left full-back position in order to relieve Aly Cissokho of his place in the starting XI.

England boss Roy Hodgson will also be pleased to have Johnson back to fitness as soon as possible, with a friendly against Denmark approaching on March 5th and the World Cup in Brazil just three months away now.

Johnson has been England’s first choice right-back since the retirement of Gary Neville from the England set-up and with Kyle Walker and Chris Smalling yet to impress in the three lions, is considered a certainty for the squad this summer, should he be fit to take part.

He also needs to prove his fitness and play his way into a new deal at Anfield, with his contract due to expire in the summer and no fresh contract currently on the table.
