Rumour: Liverpool striker Suarez reportedly offered £160,000-per-week contract by Barcelona

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez is set to be offered a contract with Spanish giants Barcelona worth around £160,000 per week.

Despite the controversy surrounding Suarez after the “bite” incident that saw the player banned following a bite on Italy defender Georgio Chiellini, the Catalan club still want to bring Suarez to Spain.

Reports in Spain claim that the deal has already been agreed between Suarez and the club and that Barcelona have imposed a “bite” specific clause that would see the striker hit with heavy fines if he ever bites a player again.

The only thing left to do now for Barcelona is to agree a price with Liverpool but the Spanish side are looking for a cheaper deal due to Suarez’s ban.

The striker is banned from all footballing activities for four months and whilst that does not include transferring between clubs it does include training.

Barcelona, therefore, are looking to bring Suarez in for a fee around £25 million whereas Liverpool want considerably more for one of their key players.

Luis Suarez was the top scorer in the Premier League last season with 31 league goals.
