Liverpool Transfer News: David Ngog, Jovanovic set to leave as Dalglish looks to the future

Most critics have found David Ngog to be short of the ability that is required at Anfield. The fact seems to have dawned upon the club finally as he will surely make a move out of the club this transfer season. The French striker has made 94 appearances for the club and scored 19 goals. He was a part of the first team during the brief time Roy Hodgson had at the club last season. His contribution has been under-par definitely and Liverpool is not a club which can do with sub-standard quality.

That has been the change in attitude since Kenny Dalglish has made his dream return at the helm. He is looking to add to his transfer kitty and get that extra 4 million that might just be the difference in a more meaningful buy. Dalglish has Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll to count upon for the next season. He is planning to add another striker in the squad and Connor Wickham’s move to Sunderland means he will have to look somewhere else.

Jovanovic has also been given the nod to search for another club as his services will not be required. The 30 year old Serbian winger was bought by Rafa Benitez in 2010. With Kenny Dalglish looking at near future success as well as long term goals, he did not fit into the scheme of things. His ten appearances at the club had nothing to boast about. He is likely to pursue his career in Greece with Olympiakos according to rumors.

Meanwhile, Stewart Downing has made up his mind on forcing a move to Anfield. Downing will be an able replacement and his performance at Aston Villa last season is an evidence of what he can do. He has been indispensible to that side and at an age of 27 has a suitable period of competitive football left in him. Dalglish is looking to strengthen his team’s play on the wing in order to maximize the abilities of Andy Carroll in the air. In that context, Downing will be an appropriate addition to the squad. Arsenal have showed interest in the winger as well.

Liverpool have already bought Jordan Henderson from Sunderland and have been consistently linked with Charlie Adam. Meanwhile, Steven Gerrard has been ruled out of the club’s pre-season Asia tour. Gerrard is recovering from a groin injury that forced him to miss the last half of the season.
