Liverpool’s possible starting XI to play Sunderland and injury news

Luis Suarez will be making his return to the Premier League today

Following their midweek exploits with Manchester United, Liverpool travel to the Stadium Of Lights to face a manager-less Sunderland side.

The Black cats, who have sacked Paolo Di Canio after just 5 league games, are at the bottom of the table and will come into the game with caretaker manager Kevin Ball.

Brendan Rodgers literally played his full strength team against Manchester United in the league cup, and still ended up losing 1-0 thanks to a Javier Hernandez goal. The Reds boss is unlikely to make any major changes against Sunderland as all eyes will be focused on Luis Suarez‘s return to the Premier League action.

As far as the team news is considered, the main worry for Rodgers will be Coutinho who is nowhere near a return. The likes of Gerrard, Lucas and Henderson might be deployed in the midfield, while the tricky part will be Rodger’s selection of his forwards.

Against United, Liverpool played with rather a modified formation than they usually do to try and fit in the returning Luis Suarez along with the inform Daniel Sturridge. A 3-4-1-2 was deployed allowing Suarez, Sturridge, Moses and Henderson all in the attacking third.

There are also chances the Rodgers will stick to his usual 4-2-3-1 formation deploying Suarez in the attacking midfield role just behind Sturridge.

Daniel Agger faces a late fitness test with Martin Kelly ready to step into the side should he fail it. Agger took full part in first team training earlier today as he continues to get over a rib condition which affected his breathing.

Here is how we think Liverpool will line-up against Sunderland this Sunday:
