Uruguayan star Luis Suarez is contemplating making a formal transfer request to his club Liverpool.

Suarez has maintained that it is his wish to play in the Champions League, and is getting rather impatient to leave his present club Liverpool as they have not been able to qualify for the Champions League since 2009.

Arsenal, on the other hand, have been regulars at the Champions League and have now played seventeen consecutive times.

Arsenal made a record bid of £40m plus £1 for Suarez, which he believes changes his present contract with Liverpool. Liverpool had rejected the North London club’s offer and said that the player is not for sale.

Suarez has in the past made it clear that he would want to play for Arsenal, and feels that it is a bit of a betrayal on the part of Liverpool to not let him go.

According to BBC, Arsene Wenger, the Arsenal manager, had said: “We want to [sign Suarez] if it is feasible in an amicable way.

“We will respect what Liverpool want to do. I don’t want to speak about Suarez because that is between Liverpool and Arsenal.

“I am a great believer you have to keep as much confidentiality as possible, which is quite difficult in the modern world.”

When Suarez joined Liverpool he had requested the addition of a clause that would allow him to leave the club if they failed to qualify for the Champions league, and if a bid of over £40m were made for him.

This was rejected by Liverpool, but they had assured him that they would act in his interest in the case of such a situation. There have been rumours that Suarez might look to take legal recourse, but Liverpool are well guarded in that respect.
