Malouda asserts "We will park the bus tomorrow if need be"

Jose Mourinho has often been criticised of deploying defenders in plenty in order to eek positive results. While the margins that his troops manage aren't awe-worthy, it’s safe to say that their results remain formidable to say the least (until this season i.e.)!

The aforementioned tactics, often referred to “parking the bus” are usually used to preserve a lead and devoid the opposition of any scoring opportunities. In a similar situation, here, in the return leg of the ISL semi final between Delhi Dynamos and FC Goa here in Fatorda, one of Mourinho’s pupils, Florent Malouda and his teammates need to hold on to their win in the home leg.

Undeniably a lot would depend on the former Chelsea star, who has marshalled the midfield valiantly for the Dynamos and while I asked him, if he will indeed instruct to ‘park the bus’ tomorrow, he gushed and replied with a grin, “If need arises, of course we will. I mean why only bus, we will park an aeroplane to reach the final.”

Adding about the team’s defensive prowess, he said, “We did start off a little slow; we scored fewer goals but that doesn’t matter too much. Its all about winning- in fact if you look at our last league game, we scored 2 early goals but eventually lost 3-2. That doesn't help. I will anyway take a 1-0 win over a loss like that.

Its extremely important for us to remain solid at the back and except for the game against Chennaiyin, we have managed to do that. With the amount of talent our team possesses, goals are bound to come.”

Manager Roberto Carlos too echoed similar sentiments, “As a Brazilian, its difficult for me to see my team faring better in defence than in attack but as long as we reach the final, I am not complaining.

That being said, we wouldn't relent on our instincts. Remember if we score even once, it would become massively difficult for them to stage a comeback.”
