Manchester United have signed an eight-year agreement with Aon, who are the club’s current shirt sponsors. The £180 million ($276 million) lucrative deal includes the selling of the naming rights to their training ground Carrington, which will now be renamed the Aon training complex.
Last year, United bought out their £10 million (a year) training-kit deal with the express delivery and freight firm DHL. The £10 million (a year) shirt sponsorship deal is set to be replaced by a £53 million annual package with General Motors’ Chevrolet in 2014.
There were also speculations about United close to signing a £100m (a year) deal with a leading airline.
However, United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has confirmed that they will never be selling the naming rights to Old Trafford.
Woodward said: “None of the signed nor planned deals will affect Old Trafford, which will not be sold.”
