Manchester United confirm interest in Antoine Griezmann

Manchester United scout David Friio believes that Real Sociedad’s star winger, Antoine Griezmann, can be a huge asset for France at this summer’s World Cup.

Griezmann, 22, is being tracked by pretty much every top club in Europe after another fantastic season in Spain. He starred for La Real last season, helping them qualify for the Champions League and he has continued that form into this season, scoring 15 goals in La Liga, and 20 overall.

Friio, who began his playing career in France, has been watching Griezmann and thinks that he can be a star in Brazil this summer.

“Greizmann would clearly bring something,” he told L’Equipe.

“His versatility and technique, in a tournament where the gaps are reduced, are real assets.

“You can’t score 15 goals in a great league without having real qualities.”

Friio also believes that Griezmann can bounce back from a ban from international football following a night out with friends before French Under-21 training.

“He never talked about it. He worked hard. He deserves an opportunity,” Friio said.

“However, his lack of power could be a problem.”

Griezmann has scored just three of his 15 La Liga goals from outside the penalty area.
