Manchester United did make a late bid for Mesut Ozil

Manchester Evening News has revealed that Manchester United did make a late bid for Arsenal target Mesut Ozil.

Ozil signed for the Gunners in the summer from Real Madrid for a club-record £42.4m fee on deadline day.

M.E.N. Sport reported that United had attempted to contact Mesut’s agent just hours before the transfer window shut, but had been told that the player had already made up his mind.

Manchester United have denied this, but a source close to both sides said, “United made a call. Kenny Moyes, David’s brother who is an agent, was trying desperately to get hold of Ozil’s agent. I think that by the time they managed it it was too late.”
