Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has stated that he believes goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois will return to the club in the summer and remain there next season.

The Belgian international in his third season on-loan with Atletico Madrid and has become one of the most sought-after goalkeepers in world football.

He is still yet to play a game for Chelsea as Petr Cech holds down the number one spot at Stamford Bridge, but there has been speculation for quite some time that he will return to London this summer and fight Cech for the starting spot in Mourinho’s side next season.

Fresh reports in the last week or so have suggested that Courtois may be used as a pawn in Chelsea’s bid to sign Diego Costa from Atletico. The 19-goal star has attracted interest from all around Europe and looks set to move onto pastures new in the summer.

Mourinho said: “Courtois is our player, Diego is not our player, so I cannot speak about Diego Costa.

“About Courtois, I can, because he is my player.”

Asked if he could see Courtois staying at Atletico, Mourinho replied: “No.”

Courtois has made 34 saves in 21 appearances and kept 10 cleans sheets in La Liga this season.
