In an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda, former Premier League midfielder and renowned pundit Don Hutchison has showered praise on Pep Guardiola and Manchester City and has compared the reigning English champions with some of the greatest teams in the history of the competition.
Manchester City could potentially win a treble this season and are set to face Real Madrid in a two-legged semi-final clash in the UEFA Champions League. With Pep Guardiola's side on the brink of a historic achievement, Hutchison claimed that Manchester City have outperformed Sir Alex Ferguson's legendary Manchester United side and Jose Mourinho's formidable Chelsea team.
"I think they're already among the greatest teams in the Premier League. If they played up against Jose’s Chelsea or Sir Alex’s Man United, I think this Man City side might just come out on top. They need to cement that with at least a double this season, and a Champions League will certainly help."
Hutchison also went on to describe the impact Pep Guardiola has had on English football over the past decade. The former Barcelona manager's tactical nous has transformed the Premier League and has produced an exhilarating brand of competitive football.
"I can't help but get carried away with the style that Pep Guardiola plays, I love it. I love the fact that he changes football and he's changed it forever, because you're starting to see Liverpool now playing with Trent Alexander-Arnold as an inverted fullback. Zinchenko has been doing it most of the season for Arsenal. A lot of teams are copying the way Guardiola does things and that's a great compliment, for people to try and imitate what you're trying to do."
