The reason why Liverpool have reportedly chosen Arne Slot ahead of Ruben Amorim as Jurgen Klopp's successor has emerged. As reported by various sources including transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the Reds have struck an agreement with Feyenoord to bring the Dutchman to Anfield in the summer.

A host of names have been linked with the Liverpool hot seat since Jurgen Klopp announced his decision to step down from the job. Former Red Xabi Alonso was initially the frontrunner for the job but the Spanaird distanced himself from the speculations by reaffirming his loyalty to Bayer Leverkusen.

Since then, Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim was touted as the favorite to replace Klopp. However, it is not all but confirmed that it will be Arne Slot who will have the near-impossible task of filling in the German managerial great's shoes.

Sky Sports journalist Melissa Reddy, a credible source for Liverpool, has shared her information on why Slot was preferred ahead of Amorim. She has insisted that the Reds never saw Amorim as the priority target contrary to reports and speculations from the fans.

She has also stressed that Amorim's clear preference for a three-at-the-back system would have meant that the Reds needed to completely transform their identity and style. As per Reddy, Amorim's meeting with West Ham United was another reason the Merseyside club decided not to pursue him.

Reddy said, as quoted by Teamtalk:

"Sporting coach Ruben Amorim had made Liverpool’s shortlist, and despite the external noise over him, the club always maintained he was not the leading or preferred option. He ticked several requirements, but his playing approach – particularly using three at the back – and long-term vision did not fit the current squad nor the philosophy implemented through all age groups at Liverpool."

Reddy added:

"Suggestions that financial reasons were behind Amorim not being the frontrunner for the Anfield job has been termed fiction. There has also been scepticism around the reasons for the 39-year-old’s very public meeting with West Ham, with one intermediary suggesting Amorim was trying to pressure Liverpool by showing them he had other options. The club had already judged Slot as the better football fit before that point, as well as a superior communicator and connector."

Arne Slot has been in charge at Feyenoord since 2021 having formerly managed Cambur and AZ. The 45-year-old guided Feyenoord to just their second Eredivisie title since the turn of the century last season and has won the KNVB Cup this season.

Arne Slot keen on signing Dutch attacker at Liverpool: Reports

Arne Slot is reportedly desperate to sign fellow Dutchman Crysencio Summerville at Liverpool in the summer. The 22-year-old has enjoyed a phenomenal season with Leeds United in the Championship this time out.

The Netherlands under-21 international has produced 20 goals and 10 assists in 45 games across all competitions. The youngster is capable of playing on either flank and is blessed with exceptional pace, vision, and technique.

Summerville came through the youth ranks of Slot's current side Feyenoord and moved to Leeds in 2020. He has since developed quite well at Elland Road and looks ready for a bigger club.
