Pedri is expected to make a return to action soon.

Barcelona manager Xavi explained the situation surrounding midfielder Pedri as he looks to return to fitness.

Speaking to the press ahead of the side's Champions League clash against Shakhtar Donetsk, the Spaniard claimed that the club were cautious regarding his recovery.

He said (via press conference):

"There has been no setback. The sensations are what they are, those set by the player. What we are trying to avoid is a relapse, which is why we are cautious. It is in the ‘timing’ that we believe is appropriate."

The 20-year-old suffered a hamstring injury in training after the second game of the season. While Barcelona were hopeful that he would return in time for the upcoming El Clasico, Spanish outlet Sport claims that he has been ruled out.

They are now looking to welcome him back next week in their La Liga clash against Real Sociedad.

Pedri has had a recurring issue with his hamstring, which is a troubling sign in his young career. The midfielder has already missed over 60 games for both club and country over the past two years.

In his absence, Barcelona will be hoping to get Frenkie de Jong back. The Dutchman has also missed time with an ankle injury he suffered against Celta Vigo last month.

Barcelona attacker Ferran Torres spoke about his confident mindset and his commitment to giving his best.

Speaking to the press ahead of the side's UCL clash against Shakhtar Donetsk, the winger also explained the reasoning behind his 'Shark' nickname.

He said:

“I am very confident, trying to give my best version in everything that can help. Simply every time I’m on the field, it doesn’t matter if I am a starter or a substitute, I try to give my best and help by scoring or attending."

He added:

“I always have positive confidence, I feel that the team will give everything, I am sure that the team will give everything. I have a lot of ambition and I demand a lot of myself, of course, I can give more, I can always improve. I did the ‘Shark’ thing because it was going in the direction of my mentality. I see that for young people and they are going through bad times it can be a help.”

Torres has emerged as a key player for Barcelona this season, playing mostly off the bench but stepping into a starting role when needed. He has scored four goals this season in 11 appearances.

The 23-year-old was heavily linked with a move away from the Catalan side this season. However, he was determined to stay and fight for his place, and he has carved out a role for himself.
