Neymar doesn't see himself leaving Barcelona anytime soon

Neymar wants to stay at Barcelona

Neymar says he doesn't think he'll leave Barcelona anytime soon even though the club are on the cusp of an economic calamity. The Brazilian forward reportedly signed a new five-year contract back in December, according to Brazilian media, but the club are yet to confirm this deal.

The former Santos man still has two years remaining on his contract but given his performances for the club – alongside South American rifles Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez – won the quintuple with the Catalans last year.

However, with the club set to renovate and improve the Camp Nou, and having still not finalised a shirt-sponsorship deal for next season onwards, it looks like the Brazilian might have to wait a little longer to confirm the deal even though the club have every intention of making sure the youngster stays with them for as long as possible.

Neymar spoke to Globo and confirmed he wanted to stay on with the club and had developed a strong friendship with his strike partners Messi and Suarez.

"I think that the most important thing in football is to play alongside good players, and I believe that those here are the best," Neymar said. "I am happy at Barcelona. It's a team where I feel at home. My teammates leave me very relaxed about everything. I don't see myself leaving Barcelona."

Asked if he was closer to Messi or Suarez, he replied: "With both.

"I've spent more time with Messi, then Suarez came and we also have a very close relationship. We are always joking at training, and outside too. We have a very close affinity."

When asked what the secret to their success was, Neymar said. "We keep evolving.

"We still have many things to evolve. I don't know what the limit of Barcelona is. We are making history and I hope we can keep making this type of history, and for people to be happy playing football. That is the philosophy of this club, to be happy on the pitch."

He added: "We are going through a good time. We are very well placed in La Liga, and already in the Copa del Rey final, and now we need to keep going in the Champions League. The fans are very happy with the work we are doing, both in training and in games."
