Eden Hazard of Chelsea (R) is sent off after kicking the ball boy

The FA have decided not to extend Eden Hazard’s ban beyond the three games he had already received with the red card. Chelsea had stated they would appeal any increase in ban but fortunately it didn’t get that far. Common sense prevailed and the FA have decided that the three games was sufficient.

Looking back at the incident both the ballboy and Hazard were in the wrong but extending the ban beyond three games would have been ridiculous. Hazard will now be available for the game against Wigan and it is possible Moses and Mikel will be back. It looks like Chelsea won’t be signing anyone so with these three players back, it the squad doesn’t look as thin.

Here is the statement the club released:

“Chelsea Football Club has received the independent commission’s ruling that Eden Hazard will not face further sanctions following an incident at the Capital One Cup semi-final at Swansea last Wednesday.

Despite our disappointment that the FA felt it necessary to take it as far as today’s hearing, Chelsea are satisfied that good sense finally prevailed and no extra games were added.”
