OGC Nice 1-2 PSG: Talking Points

Paris Sanit-Germain carried-on with business as usual with a come-from-behind victory against OGC Nice in Ligue 1.

Angel di Maria levelled things up for the away side in the first half after they fell behind to a Allan Saint-Maximin goal. PSG completed the comeback in the 82nd minute as Dani Avles rose the highest to head the ball home.

Neymar Jr. continued to be on the sidelines after his injury that'll see him miss out the remainder of the season.

#3 Kurzawa justified his claims of unfairly being left out go the latest France squad, Even without Neymar Jr.

Layvin was left out by France coach Didier Deschamps from the latest national squad.

Kurzawa came on in the second half against Nice after he had not just lost the starting berth in the national side but also the left-back position of his club-side to a reserve - Yuri Berchiche.

He was in for a difficult second half - up against the busy Allan Saint-Maximin who gave his predecessor a torrid time in the first, scoring the opener as well.

The French international put in a sturdy performance, managing to thwart the Nice forward's mazy runs in-behind the back-line. He did well on a couple of potentially dangerous one-on-one situations against Saint-Maximin and managed to keep tabs on him throughout the remainder of the game.

The performance was worthy of a place in the France squad, if not the starting line-up, alone.

This will bring into question the selection methods and tactics of the French national manager, who failed dramatically in the last Euro Final in his decision-making, after asking Pogba to sit in midfield despite having the likes of Kante, Sissoko and Matuidi in the side.

Despite his form tailing away towards the closure of the season, Kurzawa will provide width and pace upfront, and judging by the basis on this performance, will be successful at warding off opposition attacks at the back.

Mario Balotelli has been in rejuvenated form this season for his side, having scored 22 goals in 30 appearances so far.

The Italian has been a nuisance for the defenders all through his career, and his tendency to go missing every now and then not withstanding, he can be a pain in the rear of any manager he faces-off against. The same can be said for any manager he lines-up for too.

The antics of the striker always tends to overshadow his performances on the field, but Balotelli let his footballing do the talking tonight - regularly getting involved in attack for Nice and took a majority of the 14 attempt on goal for the French out-fit.

The PSG defenders failed to keep him out of the game, as he kept popping up throughout the match and wasn't afraid to let fly.

Despite failing to find the net, the striker put in another decent performance and is slowly making his way back to the peak of his powers.

PSG always seem to find a way to win, even without Neymar Jr.

In a parallel universe, probably one where logic exists, people are snickering at the idea of a team featuring the likes of Angel di Maria, Kylian Mbappe, Edinson Cavani and Julian Draxler being weakened by injury!

Unfortunately, no such world exists. So we go on mourning about the absence of a player who's loss, honestly speaking, hasn't affected the side much at all!

This PSG side are as lethal as they come, and Real Madrid (probably the big-game team of all-time) had to dig deep at the Santiago Bernabeu to find a way past them in the Champions League round of 16 tie.

The attacking talent on display for the French side was in free-flow as the soon-to-be Ligue 1 Champions overturned a one goal deficit to win their 9th successive league victory!
