Reports: Liverpool leading the chase for Manchester United and Arsenal target Cesc Fabregas

Liverpool looks favourite to land Fabregas this summer.

Liverpool are leading the chase to sign Barcelona’s £30 million-rated Cesc Fabregas, according to the Daily Mail.

Barcelona have told Fabregas they are willing to let him leave and it is understood that he is willing to make a return to the Premier League after three successful years in Spain.

Fabregas started his young football career in the famed La Masia academy before Arsenal poached him. He then made a name himself in European football under the tutelage of Arsene Wenger before returning home in 2011.

It is believed that Arsenal have a buy-back option on Fabregas so hold the upper hand over their rivals, but they are not certain to make a bid this summer.

That has led to Liverpool igniting their interest in the World Cup winner and now, after finishing second in the Premier League and Champions League football guaranteed, they lead the chase for his signature ahead of Manchester United, Chelsea and Man City.

The Reds are also making splashes in the transfer market with the acquisition of boyhood fans Rickie Lambert from Southampton for £4 million. His move is set to be confirmed on Monday after his medical was successfully completed in Merseyside yesterday.

With Liverpool also chasing Adam Lallana, Alberto Moreno, Emre Can and Xherdan Shaqiri, they’ve now apparently declared their interest in Fabregas. This could be a long drawn-out saga.
