According to the reputed Spanish outlet, AS, Real Madrid are considering a move for FC Porto's centre-back, Eder Militao.

According to the report, the Spanish giants have already contacted the player's agent for a potential move in the next summer. The Los Blancos are considering to pay the €50 million buy-out clause to secure the services of the infamous Brazilian centre-back.

Since joining Porto from Sao Paulo, for a fee of just €4 million, the 21-year-old has impressed with his rigid defending skills. The Brazilian has been chosen as the best defender in the Portuguese league for the past four months.

In the 24 appearances, he has made so far, this season, Militao has scored twice and set up another two - showcasing his attacking abilities, attracting the Spanish giants.

According to the report, interests from EPL giants such as Manchester United, Liverpool, and Chelsea was expected to persuade the defender to join the EPL. However, with Real Madrid joining the race for his signatures, things have changed in the past week.

The heart of the matter

Real Madrid have already conceded 24 league goals - second-highest amongst the top-ten sides. Their vulnerable stats at the back are highlighting the fact the Galacticos aren't up to their customary defending standards, this season.

With Jesus Vallejo dealing with his injuries for the better part of his Real Madrid tenure, Nacho Fernandez remains the only experienced defender to cover for both Raphael Varane and Sergio Ramos.

Sergio Ramos, who is approaching the latter stages of his career, has started in every LaLiga game this season. Eder Militao is a suitable choice to enhance Real Madrid's squad depth and could be their defensive hero in the near future.
