Rooney on the verge of leaving United?

Manchester United Training & Press Conference

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney may not be a Red Devil next season as the club is open to the player’s exit. United will look for a fee in the region of £35 million.

A source close to the club said that the transfer can follow after a “complicated chain of events”. One can only wonder if it has anything related to Cristiano Ronaldo returning to United.

Without any known injury problems, Rooney was left on the bench for majority of the match against Real Madrid. United has been actively known to be interested in bringing back Ronaldo at Old Trafford.

Previously, Rooney had attempted his way out in 2010 which only resulted in the striker signing a new contract. The relation between Sir Alex Furguson and him never fully healed after that incident and with the arrival of Robin van Persie, the England striker has not been the focal point of the team.

United were reportedly in talks with Real Madrid over the transfer but the Spanish giants are not interested. Only Paris Saint -Germain have showed interest. However, its up to the player to decide his future.

Meanwhile, Fergie’s interest in Borussia Dortmund’s Robert Lewandowski remains high and he is seen as a direct replacement for Rooney. Bayern Munich are the favourites to land the Polish player but that deal is far from done and the Red Devils are continuing to monitor the situation.
