Roy Hodgson unlikely to take Marcus Rashford to the Euros

Marcus Rashford
Will he make it to Euro 2016?

Marcus Rashford has had an incredible last few months. Manchester United were struck by an injury crisis and were short on options in the striker’s department. Memhis Depay had also not impressed his manager enought ot give him a position in the starting XI.

Rashford who is a product of the Fletcher Moss academy stepped up to the occasion after he was given the chance by Louis Van Gaal. The youngster has scored 4 goals in 8 appearnaces in the premier league and has put in some very impressive performances.

Several fans and critics have urged Roy Hodgson to take Rashford to the Euros but the manager has dropped a huge bombshell on their hopes. "I think it would be a very bold decision to put him in.”

With so many English players proving their worth this season it has made it a difficult problem for the Roy Hodgson and his selection comitee. Rashford has been impressive but the compeition for places is fierce.

Harry Kane, Jamie vardy, Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck and Daniel Sturrdige are all in contention and iit is difficult to see Rashfrod dislodging any of those players, but Hodgson is not completely ruling out the possibilty.

"I think it would mean possibly leaving someone behind who at the moment, in my opinion, has more reason to be called upBut you never know. The fact is it would be foolish as well to say 'no, no, he's not ready - he can't do it.”

Rashford has performed extemely well in United’s big games. He scored a brace on his Premier League debut against Arsenal helping his side to a 3-2 win. He then scored the winner in the Manchester derby with a wonderful effort.

His most recent healine was when he scored an absolute gem against West Ham United in the FA Cup as the Red Devils progressed into the semi-finals of the compatition. But depsite his exploits it will be difficult for him to make the Enlgand squad.

But Hodgson is very impressed by the youngster. "I am sure he could do it. It's not inconceivable but it looks unlikely to me with the current players we've got and the competition for places in that area of the field.”

United are currenlty 5th in the Premier League table and are two points behind Manchester City in the race for the top four. Lous Van Gaal’s job will be under threat if the club don’t qualify for the Champions Legaue.

Even if United do make the top four there is the posiibilty of them losing out to Liverpool or Manchester City if they win their respective European competitions.
