Manchester City are reportedly prepared to listen to offers for Jack Grealish this summer with Pep Guardiola unconvinced by the English attacker.
Football Insider reports that Grealish, 28, could be sold despite his prominent starting role with the Cityzens. The 35-cap England international has started 25 of 33 games across competitions, bagging three goals and as many assists.
Manchester City's higher-ups feel the winger could fetch a big fee and help raise funds for other acquisitions. He's been at the Etihad since August 2021 when he joined Guardiola's side from Aston Villa for a then-British record £100 million.
Grealish was an important member of City's continental treble triumph last season. He was a regular starter as the Cityzens won the UEFA Champions League for the first time in their history.
However, Grealish has somewhat been unable to replicate his performances from that campaign this time around. The arrival of Jeremy Doku has proven to be a challenge for the Englishman.
There is no mention of any potential suitors for the former Villa captain but he was linked with Manchester United and Real Madrid before his City move. The Athletic reported that the Villains called the Red Devils and Los Blancos to gauge their interest before he headed to the Etihad.
Manchester City's Jack Grealish admits he's struggled this season
Grealish gave an honest assessment of his ongoing campaign and said that he'd failed to hit the heights of his 2022-23 performance. The Birmingham-born wide forward delved into his mindset (via The Independent):
"It’s been difficult. Especially on the back of last year, I had such a good season. I was playing a lot and was one of the main players in the team and playing in all the games and all the important games."
Grealish was one of Manchester City's heroes during their Champions League campaign last year. It could be argued he was their best performer across two legs in a 5-1 aggregate win against Madrid in the semifinals.
However, several issues have prevented him from hitting that kind of form this season which he alluded to:
"This year, at the start of the season I had a dead leg which kept me out for a month and then I didn’t play too often. I don’t think my form was the best and I wasn’t playing with a lot of confidence."
Grealish has three years left on his contract with Manchester City. He'll want to be at his best during the Premier League run-in with a place in England's Euro 2024 squad potentially at stake.
