Manchester United and Liverpool among 4 clubs interested in signing rising PSG star this summer: Reports

Erik ten Hag and Jurgen Klopp are keen to sign Christophe Galtier
Erik ten Hag and Jurgen Klopp are keen to sign Christophe Galtier's defender.

Manchester United and Liverpool are reportedly interested in roping in Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) teenager El Chadaille Bitshiabu in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Bitshiabu, 17, has emerged as one of the best defensive talents in the Ligue 1 this season. He has made the most of his first-team chances under Christophe Galtier, starting five of his 13 overall matches for PSG.

According to Le10Sport, Bitshiabu's rapid rise in stature at PSG has drawn interest from host of clubs. Manchester United and Liverpool have decided to join Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt in the race to sign the player.

Bitshiabu, who joined the Parisians from Boulogne-Billancourt's academy in 2017, has appointed Jorge Mendes as his agent, as per L'Equipe. He could be offered to clubs in the near future as Mendes is not known for keeping his clients at the same club for a long time. Furthermore, the young defender is in the final 14 months of his current deal with PSG.

A left-footed centre-back blessed with heading and strength, the three-cap France U19 international could opt to depart PSG due to Milan Skriniar's imminent arrival. The Inter Milan defender is likely to walk straight into the Parisians' starting lineup following his Bosman move. This is expected to hurt Bitshiabu's first-team opportunities.

Should the teenager join the Old Trafford side this summer, he would be a solid bench option. With Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, and Eric Bailly all expected to leave this summer, he would get a considerable amount of first-team minutes.

Bitshiabu could prove to be a solid signing for Liverpool as well due to his ball-playing ability. The Reds are currently in the transfer market for a left-sided centre-back and the PSG man could be an apt fit in their 3-2-2-3 setup.

Manchester United tipped for top-four finish ahead of Liverpool

Following Manchester United's recent 1-0 loss at West Ham United, Rio Ferdinand sent a warning to his erstwhile club regarding their top-four chances in the ongoing Premier League campaign. He told BT Sport:

"The players haven't been good enough in recent weeks and they've not closed games out. They've got to change that. Liverpool are hot on their heels and I think they will win all of their last three games to put the pressure on. But I think Manchester United will just do enough to get in the top four, I'd be very surprised if they don't."

The Red Devils are currently fourth in the 2022-23 Premier League standings with 63 points from 34 games with a goal difference of +8. Jurgen Klopp's side are fifth with 62 points from 35 matches with a goal difference of +25.

United will face Wolverhampton Wanderers, Bournemouth, Chelsea, and Fulham in their last four league matches.
