Will former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel take over at Manchester United?

Former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel reportedly values the project at Manchester United very highly. As per TEAMtalk, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his entourage have begun talks with the German manager regarding replacing Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.

Ten Hag's future is uncertain after the Red Devils finished eighth in the league this season, their worst finish of the modern era.

Tuchel has emerged as a top candidate, according to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg, who claims the former Chelsea manager rates United as a club very highly. He reportedly values the team's project, the club's history, and its fans.

As per Plettenberg, Tuchel also considers his work at Chelsea unfinished. The German tactician managed the west London outfit from 2021 to 2022, winning the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.

Tuchel has already managed his final game as the Bayern manager and the German is now a hot commodity for clubs looking for a new manager. His previous experience of managing in the Premier League could make Tuchel a good fit for Manchester United.

Michael Owen assesses the ideal candidate to take over at Manchester United

Michael Owen has assessed Manchester United's potential next managers. Names like Zinedine Zidane, Thomas Tuchel, and Graham Potter have been linked with replacing Erik ten Hag.

Owen has shared his take on the situation, saying (via Bavarian Football Networks):

"They're all very capable managers. There's a shortage of managers right now, though. Look at Zidane, he doesn't speak much English so I'm not sure Man Utd would be on his radar personally."

Owen claimed that Tuchel is a capable candidate and pointed out that Chelsea fans regret losing Tuchel. He said:

"He could become available. I think a lot of Chelsea fans regret parting with Tuchel. He is one big name capable of the job."

Owen went on to claim that he would be surprised if Zidane took over. However, he sees Gareth Southgate and Potter as potential candidates to take charge of the Red Devils next season.
